Patients should be informed that their suffering is not a debilitating or degenerative deformed and that treatment can be effective. Local measures such as heat, massage, injections with steroids or lidocaine on sensitive points and acupuncture improve symptoms temporarily. Other therapeutic measures that produce improvements of various degrees include biofeedback, hypnotherapy, stress reduction, relaxation. Use of tricycle antidepressants taken with 1-2 hour before bedtime improves sleep and improves the patient symptoms. Sometimes higher doses may be necessary in these medicines. Depression and anxiety should be treated with appropriate medications and, if necessary, under the supervision of psychiatrists.
