     For fibromyalgia pain relief and muscle relaxation massage is useful, electrotherapy, cryotherapy or thermotherapy, but the results are not durable. Exercise is but one of the best remedies to lower pain, to improve the mood and functionality. Especially is recommended mobility exercises, the aerobic ones and the growth of muscle force.

     Training can start with a light warming, with mobility exercises and then stretch exercises of each muscle group. Aerobic exercise should be less intense at first and then will gradually increase in intensity. To be effective, the exercises should be made at least 3 times a week.

     Ideally is to arrive at a frequency of 4-5 times per week for 20-30 minutes a day, level reached after several months. The aim is that the exercises be done safely, without increasing the pain. Some patients can never reach such a level. They should be encouraged to work at maximum level without increasing their suffering. Aquatic environment would be most suitable for this category, swimming being a great fibromyalgia pain relief exercise.

     Psychologically, cognitive-behavioral therapy helps patients to recognize and express emotions, control stress, to trust their own abilities, to see events from a bright and constructive prospect.


Food is involved in fibromyalgia pain relief:


     In terms of diet, there are recommended foods rich in tryptophan, such as tofu, soy, sesame, flax, almonds, knowing that tryptophan is a precursor of serotonin. Teas and supplements herbal tonics and sedatives can reduce fatigue and may improve sleep. Avoid coffee, alcohol and other exciting. By having a healthy diet you can alleviate the pain.


Some extra tips for fibromyalgia pain relief:

  • Take breaks every day, breathe deeply and relax.
  • Sleep and wake up at fixed hours, avoid sleeping during the day.
  • Do not force yourself on good days, you will have more bad days afterwards.
  • Look before focusing on what you can do to feel better, not on what will become painful.

Currently, there is no cure for fibromyalgia. Therapeutic actions are focused on addressing pain, fatigue, depression and other symptoms of the syndrome, in hopes of interrupting the vicious circle of low tolerance to pain and fewer physical activities. Therapeutic actions may include: sleep medications such as tricycle antidepressants, selective serotonin inhibitor antidepressants or a skeletal muscle relaxant; medicines to reduce pain in joints and muscles. Also indicated are physiotherapy and reflexology to alleviate both muscle pain, and to increase the energy levels. For this purpose, will be initiated a program of regular exercise. Of all the methods, exercises seem to be the most beneficial in reducing pain, improving sleep and improving also the general state. Last but not least, reducing stress plays a central role against the fibromyalgia attack. So relax and not allow stress to get you sick!
