Fibromyalgia symptoms may last from several days to several months.

People with fibromyalgia have periods of asymptomatic and symptomatic periods. Fatigue and muscle or joint pain are common, especially after physical or mental stress. Many people with fibromyalgia accuse sharp pain at low temperatures or high humidity, when they do not sleep enough, are tired, stressed or exhausted.

Because fibromyalgia symptoms mimic other syndromes, the presence of other medical problems with similar symptoms must be eliminated through differential diagnosis, to obtain the final diagnosis of fibromyalgia. In many cases you can find other diseases associated fibromyalgia.

For most people, fibromyalgia symptoms consist in flare of low tolerance to pain and in decreased physical activity. Increased pain requires the person to be less active.

Muscles which are not put in regular exercise are prone to irritation during activity. It is possible that people with fibromyalgia to be more sensitive to pain or to have muscles more easily irritable. Sensitive muscles are painful. Muscle pain is associated with sleep disturbance and daytime fatigue. Together it leads to a decrease in activity.

Although fibromyalgia is a chronic syndrome with no treatment, this condition is auto limiting and does not affect the muscles, joints or internal organs. Symptoms can be controlled with treatment at home, especially with exercise. Drug therapy is indicated for sleep disorders, pain or depression. Unfortunately, many people do not respond to many treatments. Many people with fibromyalgia and its symptoms can adapt to it and continue to work and participate in daily activities, more or less. Many will have to adjust their work and lifestyle according to severity of the symptoms.
